Ivy League Day Camp

Ivy League Day Camp has been a staple in my life for the past 12 years. I started there when I was 15 years old as a camp counselor for children going into Kindergarten. Each year I worked with a different team of leaders, counselors, and campers. After five years of being a camp counselor I moved into a new role known as a specialist. As a specialist I was responsible for one location at camp. I had to create games and lesson plans for my arena and then implement the game for each group of campers. I saw campers from the ages of 7-14 at my arena. During my time at camp I also worked the extended program each year, this could be the morning program operating from 7am-9am or the afternoon program running from 4pm-6pm. These programs would include campers from the age of 3-14 and a team of counselors and specialists to watch them and play with them. I would be there to play with the campers on the playground or in the gymnasium. In my 5th year at camp I became the head counselor for both programs, this meant that I was responsible for all of the campers and counselors. We would set up a movie on rainy days and play on the playgrounds on the nice days. My team of counselors are responsible for getting the campers to their proper arrival locations each morning and in the afternoon we are responsible for signing them out to a parent/guardian to go home.Â
