Middle Country School District

I became a substitute teacher in Middle Country Central School District during the school year of 2023-2024. I started out as a leave replacement in a special education class for September to December. This class is known as PRAISE, it is a group of students who all have Autism Spectrum Disorder, the class consisted of 7 students. I was responsible for ensuring that the students were meeting their IEP goals, following behavior plans that already existed and implementing new plans, communicating with parents and therapists, I also worked very closely with the behaviorist and school psychologist. I worked with 2 Teacher Assistants and 2 Teacher Aides in the classroom as well. The teacher returned in December and I continue to work in the school as a building substitute. I am at this school 4 days a week, I am often assigned to work in the same PRAISE classroom since I know the children and in this setting extra hands are needed.
