Teaching Philosophy
I believe that every student is different, no two students learn the same way. For this reason, I would always present the content in multiple formats such as auditory, visual, kinesthetic, and hands on. I want every student to have the best opportunity at learning something new and expand on their learning. My classroom will always be a safe, encouraging environment where everyone's opinions are valid and heard. We would be a judgment free classroom. I can guarantee that I would always be there for my students, their needs would always be my main priority and I would do anything that was possible to assist them. The students can expect that I would love them, care for them, and support them in their educational careers but also outside of academics if they need. The best teachers care for their students and recognize their uniqueness as assets. I also believe that sitting in one place for an entire school day can be too much, the students will have the opportunity to move around the classroom, stand behind their chairs, or work on the floor to give them a chance to be comfortable while learning. We will always find ways to keep everyone happy, comfortable, and distraction free with designated areas of the classroom being a location to go work standing, sitting, or laying on the floor. My students will be granted the opportunity to come in for extra help when they feel they need the support, they may also be invited by myself to come for extra help when I see that they could use the extra time. This could be in the mornings before school, in the afternoons right after school, or during the school day. Extra help should be viewed as an opportunity to expand their learning, learn in a new way, or ask questions about something that is misunderstood. Finally, I believe students should have a sense of responsibility in school. For this I would give them the opportunity to apply for a classroom job, these jobs could include line leader, energy saver, door holder, caboose and many others. The students will have a choice in their job, they will fill out a short application that asks which job they want, a backup job in case the first is taken, and two reasons they would be the best choice for the job. I feel that when students have control in their day they are more confident and will be more enthusiastic about school. School should be a fun place to be, something to look forward to daily, with a team of teachers and friends to support you in your learning journey. This would be found in my classroom everyday.Â
